Grove. Big Sky, Montana.

Grove is a community that preserves and restores the natural ecosystem while introducing optimal living for both the human and non-human featuring twenty five acres of biodiverse land with a well balanced flow of plant and wildlife that allows the harmonious coexistence between natural living ecosystems and fifteen living-building homes that recycle water, produce energy and share communal pathways and roads. These homes encircle a restored central wetland (pond) that services the greater habitat. Grove looks to honor the Earth that provides all that we need by building a community that harmoniously lives, actively restores, and passionately stewards the land on which it will reside.

We hope this project can be an exemplary starting point for a shift in how development is done and a challenge to conventional development to positively impact the greater community, ecosystem, and families whom will call it home. This challenge continues to inspire the creation of Grove.

¿What is Grove

-A community that preserves and restores the natural ecosystem while introducing optimal living for both the human and non-human.

-Twenty five acres of biodiverse land with a well balanced flow of plant and wildlife that allows the harmonious coexistence between natural living ecosystems.

-Fifteen living-building homes that recycle water, produce energy and share communal pathways and roads. These homes encircle a restored central wetland (pond) that services the greater habitat.

-One Barn that creates biodynamic space for co-work and co-creation, family gatherings, social impact events and a greenhouse for food growth. The barn will be beneficial for the watershed it belongs to.

-Seed Grove looks to honor the Earth that provides all that we need by building a community that harmoniously lives, actively restores, and passionately stewards the land on which it will reside.

Masterplan

A legacy of prehistoric traditions of nature conservation, sacred groves are patches of forest that rural communities in the developing world protect and revere as sacrosanct. Deeply held spiritual beliefs ensure that not a tree is felled no a creature harmed within its boundaries.

Treasure troves for naturalists, the groves often serve as the last refuge for magnificent and ancient trees, as well as for species of lianas, medicinal plants, macaques, deer, birds, lizards, frogs and other creatures that have become rare elsewhere in the landscape.

House as a Grove

Mimicking the way tree groves are a small unit that reflects and improve the nature around the place, we want to create house groves that associate with nature and enhance its ecosystem by honoring and merging into the natural energetic flow.

In this natural landscape, the wetlands are the very centre of these homes and, just like branches of a tree, each one of them is interconnected by water in a harmonious way.
